Hi everyone, and sorry for the delay! We did not have internet access at Starfish so I could not blog! Our trip to China took about 29 hours from the time we left Nashville till the time we got to Starfish! The boys did amazingly well, especially considering that Jack woke up with a 102 temperature and also threw up right before we landed in Beijing! He is finally better today..we have all had a bit of jet lag, but I think we are turning that corner today too.
Starfish was amazing! Amanda is doing really well, and the babies are loving their new home. They have SO much more space. The boys had a blast taking the babies for walks, and Ben was the "chocolate" man, handing out chocolates to the kids. They followed him everywhere! We played with the babies, and also went to see the Terracotta Soldiers. They were pretty incredible. The boys have been ROCK STAR status here. I am not sure how many people have touched Jack, nor how many have taken their photo. They are handling it pretty well :) but are certain they do NOT want to be the next Justin Bieber!
We had a great visit with Amanda, and several Australian volunteers that were also at Starfish. We enjoyed a Peking Duck dinner (no duck for me though!) last night....awesome vegetables, pineapple rice, duck
and even beer, all for $6 apiece! The boys did not each much, they were too tired..
Today we said goodbye to Starfish and flew to Nanning, in Guangxi province. This is the province that Florie lives in, and we will meet her tomorrow afternoon. She will stay with us from the moment we meet her! We are at the Marriott in Nanning, and there was a little mixup on our room, so now we have access to the Executive Lounge (meaning I have a beer right now :))! The boys are waiting on William to get back in with our pizza for the night, and then we are passing out. Everyone is doing so well...the boys have really been troopers. It was a long day getting here, and they have hung in so nicely!
Tomorrow....I am so EXCITED! I am also NERVOUS, THRILLED, ANXIOUS, HOPEFUL, and SAD. I cannot imagine how hard it will be for Florie. She is leaving everything she has ever known.....it will be a shock for her, and I am asking you to please pray for her. Pray that she will see sooner than later that we are safe, and loving. Please pray for patience for us all...it really seems surreal that tomorrow she will be in our arms. It has been a long time coming...I am unpacking her things, and trying to pick out what to leave out for her to see when she comes in the hotel room tomorrow. I do not want to overwhelm her...and to think about what foods to take with us, what to ask the nannies about her, what she will be like in person. I just cannot wait and hope I can get some sleep tonight! We have her crib in our room, and pink blankets all set to go. Now, all we need is HER!
I will post some pictures in a bit...right now I want to get the rest of our stuff put away and feed the kids. Our internet access should be good from now on, so please check back soon!
Miss you all!
Love,
Eve
