So, here is what I read today:
TRUST ME, and don't be afraid. Many things feel out of control. Your routines are not running smoothly. You tend to feel more secure when your life is predictable. Let Me lead you to the rock that is higher than you and your circumstances. Take refuge in the shelter of My wings, where you are absolutely secure.
When you are shaken out of your comfortable routines, grip My hand tightly and look for growth opportunities. Instead of bemoaning the loss of your comfort, accept the challenge of something new. I lead you on from glory to glory, making you fit for My kingdom. Say yes to the ways I work in your life. Trust Me, and don't be afraid.
Hmmm...
Today, a few of my sweet friends (Kelly, Michelle, Sara, Lisa and Vickie) had invited me to eat lunch for a "good luck" good-bye before we leave. Of course, today is the day for strong storms and crazy rain. I had to go to the bank, and to Target, and to get dog food...just check off the list, basically. I didn't bother with a shower since it was a torrential downpour outside anyway. I arrived at lunch a few minutes late (had to run in Show Hope to give some of my buddies a hug bye before next week!), and found my friends waiting on me. As I started to apologize for being late, I noticed a few other things.
As I looked to the left, about 15 of my dear friends from CES were in the back of the room....for a surprise shower. I was very surprised, and so very touched. I knew at that minute what my devotional had been about....how Jesus was working in my life. Here were so many good friends together, on a busy spring Friday, in BAD weather. to celebrate Florie. A treasured little one far away now who has suffered more in her first two years of life than most people suffer in a life time. To celebrate HOPE, and LOVE, and FAITH......and of course, to celebrate getting some PINK on in this house of boys :)

I am honestly in awe of my amazing friends..each of them so different, so creative, so loving, so supportive, and such great MOMS! It is a gift to know each of them....we all bring a lil' something different to the table, and I am so thankful for that.
One of my girlfriends who helped plan this wonderful day did not answer her phone when I called her this morning. She was scared that I was going to cancel because of the weather being icky and the general stress in packing....little did she know that I had read my JESUS CALLING today. Little did I know what God had in store for me!! Wrapped under that wing....what a place to be!
If you're alone, I'll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me. ~Author Unknown
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares. ~Henri Nouwen
Thank you ladies for today! I treasure each one of you so much!
Love,
Eve
